Empowering Academic Excellence Academic Study Strategist Independent Contractor \| Remote / Online \| Flexible Hours About the Role Verity Academic is seeking a dynamic Academic Study Strategist to provide high\-impact, online academic support to paying customers — high school, college, and graduate school students who need help studying smarter, managing their time, and performing their best on exams. Students come to us when they are overwhelmed, behind, or staring down a test the next day with no clear plan. Our Strategists deliver both live one\-on\-one sessions and self\-paced resources that give students exactly what they need to move forward with confidence. This role covers all core academic subjects excluding math and writing — including but not limited to Science, History, Social Studies, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Business, Political Science, and Foreign Languages. This is not traditional tutoring — you are a coach who teaches students how to study, how to prioritize, and how to perform under pressure. Key Responsibilities Conduct live one\-on\-one online sessions with students who purchase support — including same\-day or next\-day emergency sessions for students facing an upcoming exam Develop and deliver self\-paced study resources (review guides, concept maps, flashcard frameworks, mnemonics, practice question sets) that students can use independently between sessions Create rapid\-turnaround, personalized study plans for students who need a clear game plan fast — especially those cramming the night before an assessment Teach students high\-yield study techniques tailored to non\-math academic subjects: active recall, spaced repetition, Cornell notes, the Feynman Technique, chunking, and retrieval practice Support students across subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Physics, History, Geography, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, Business, Environmental Science, Foreign Languages, and standardized test content (SAT, ACT, AP, IB exams) Quickly assess what a student knows and does not know, prioritize the highest\-impact material, and deliver focused review within a limited time window Help students manage exam anxiety, build confidence, and develop a repeatable process for studying any subject effectively Provide post\-session written summaries with a clear, prioritized action list so students know exactly what to do after the session ends Maintain accurate session logs and documentation using designated platforms Qualifications Required: Bachelor's degree or higher — preference given to candidates with broad academic backgrounds across multiple disciplines Demonstrated ability to support students in at least two of the following subject areas: Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology, Economics), Humanities (History, Political Science), or Foreign Languages Proven experience supporting students with exam preparation, study coaching, or academic skill\-building — you must arrive with these skills fully developed; training is not provided Strong ability to quickly identify what a student needs most and build a focused, actionable study plan in real time Proficiency with online meeting platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, or equivalent) and digital collaboration tools Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex content clearly, adapt your approach to different learning styles, and keep a stressed student calm and focused Preferred: Graduate degree in Education, a content area, or a related field Experience working with high school students, college students, or graduate students in an academic support or coaching capacity Familiarity with AP, IB, SAT, ACT, or GRE subject content and exam formats Knowledge of learning science and evidence\-based study methods — you should be able to explain why a technique works, not just that it works Experience creating self\-paced study materials such as review guides, concept summaries, or practice question sets What We're Looking For Our ideal Strategist does not panic when a student shows up with twelve hours until their AP Biology exam and no idea where to start. You know how to take a breath, size up the situation, cut to what matters most, and give that student a real plan — not just reassurance. You are energized by high\-stakes moments, sharp enough to span multiple subjects, and structured enough to deliver a resource a student can actually use on their own. You bring your expertise ready to go.
