Privacy Policy

1. Overview

Weightless operates the website at weightless.work. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide

  • Email address when you subscribe to the newsletter, create job alerts, sign in, submit an apply click with an email, or post a job.
  • Employer and job posting information, including company name, hiring contact, company website, job title, job description, salary range, location requirements, and apply URL.
  • Optional applicant context, such as salary range or city, when you choose to provide it before clicking through to an employer application page.
  • Candidate shortlist information, including your name, email, location, LinkedIn profile, cover note, and résumé when you choose to express interest in a role through Weightless.
  • Payment information for job postings. Payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal. We do not store full card numbers or bank credentials.

Information collected automatically

  • Usage and event data, such as pages viewed, buttons clicked, referral URL, UTM parameters, browser type, and device information.
  • Security data, including IP address and user agent, used for rate limiting, abuse prevention, fraud prevention, and service security.
  • Local storage for preferences such as theme, cookie consent, saved apply email, and anonymous session tracking when analytics are accepted.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide, operate, secure, and improve Weightless.
  • Publish and manage employer job postings.
  • Send job alerts, newsletters, receipts, sign-in links, and service emails.
  • Track apply clicks and paid listing performance.
  • Maintain private candidate shortlists and share an application only with a verified employer connected to that role.
  • Measure product usage when analytics are accepted.
  • Prevent spam, fraud, scraping abuse, and other misuse.
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and payment obligations.

4. Legal Bases for Processing

Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we process personal information under one or more of these legal bases: your consent, performance of a contract, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, and compliance with legal obligations.

5. Cookies, Local Storage, and Analytics

Essential storage is used for security, authentication, preferences, checkout, and basic site functionality. Optional analytics load only after you accept analytics in the cookie banner. We do not use ad retargeting cookies.

You can change your choice by clearing site data for weightless.work in your browser. If you choose essential-only storage, job search, applying, job alerts, and checkout remain available.

6. Sharing and Processors

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. We use service providers to operate Weightless, including:

  • Neon for database hosting. Sign-in uses single-use email links and secure session cookies.
  • Stripe and PayPal for payment processing.
  • Resend for transactional and marketing email delivery.
  • Vercel for hosting and analytics.
  • Google Analytics for optional analytics when accepted.

When you click an apply link, you leave Weightless and continue on the employer's or job source's website. Their privacy policy then applies to the information you provide there.

Résumés submitted to a Weightless candidate shortlist are stored in a private file bucket and are not publicly indexed. They are available only to Weightless operations and a verified employer that owns the corresponding listing.

7. Affiliate and Sponsor Links

Some outbound links may be affiliate, sponsor, or paid placement links. They are disclosed in the interface where they appear. We may receive compensation if you click or purchase through those links, at no additional cost to you.

8. Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described here. Newsletter and alert records are retained while active and are deactivated when you unsubscribe. Job postings, payment records, apply-click records, and operational logs may be retained as needed for service operation, fraud prevention, legal compliance, accounting, and dispute resolution.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal information. You may also withdraw consent for optional emails or analytics.

10. Children

Weightless is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Security and International Transfers

We use HTTPS, access controls, rate limiting, and hosted providers with security controls. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. Your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate.

12. Changes

We may update this policy as the service changes. The updated date above reflects the latest revision.
