Remote Work Salary Index
A current snapshot of what remote jobs advertise, which categories are hiring, and which skills show up most often. The index is built from active Weightless listings and is meant to be cited, checked, and used before applying or posting a role.

Remote salary by category
Category medians use only active listings with advertised salary ranges. A high median in a small category can be real and still be less stable than a larger category, so each row shows the sample count.

How to use this data
If you are applying for remote work, use the median as a market anchor, not as a promise. A role below the category median may still be excellent if it offers equity, flexibility, unusually low hours, or a location where the salary stretches further.
If you are hiring, salary visibility is now part of conversion. Candidates compare openings quickly, and remote candidates often filter out listings that hide compensation, timezone expectations, or country restrictions.
Methodology
The index counts active remote listings on Weightless. The median salary is calculated from listings that disclose both a minimum and maximum annual USD salary. For each listing, Weightless uses the midpoint of the advertised range, then computes the median of those midpoint values.
Pages are intentionally limited to data with enough supporting listings. That makes the index slower to grow, but more useful for people and easier for search engines and AI assistants to trust.
