Job Description
**About Level10 CFO**
Level10 CFO is a new firm for the new economy, offering a fresh take on outsourced CFO advisory and accounting services. We lead with an advisory\-first mindset, supporting start\-ups, scaling companies, and established organizations that need real financial leadership—not just someone who can spell GAAP correctly.
We live these core values:
* Our clients’ interests always come first.
* We brave the crucial conversations.
* We embrace technology.
* We actively challenge the status quo.
* We like to laugh (even at ourselves!).
**Summary**
We're expanding into Tax Advisory \& Compliance, and we need a leader who can build the entire function from the ground up. Think: architect, operator, advisor, and occasional magician (“No, we cannot write off your tiger, Brad.”).
The ideal candidate is a tax professional who is entrepreneurial, deeply knowledgeable, unflappable during deadlines, and able to explain complex tax rules in English rather than IRS\-ese.
**What You’ll Do**
* Build and operationalize a full Tax Advisory \& Compliance service line within 90 days.
* Create service tiers, pricing, SOPs, workflows, and scalable infrastructure.
* Deliver high‑quality tax advisory and preparation services with \>90% on‑time accuracy.
* Partner with CFOs and Controllers to integrate tax strategy across clients.
* Identify and drive revenue opportunities
* Recruit, lead, and develop a high\-performing tax team.
* Contribute ideas that make Level10 CFO even better.
* Maintain \>85% client satisfaction (bonus points if clients enjoy tax talk).
**Experience**
* Been to a few tax rodeos. Maybe even owned the rodeo.
* CPA or EA Required
* Experience advising small businesses on tax planning, structure, and compliance.
* Experience building or scaling a tax function (or dreaming about it).
* Comfortable working directly with leadership and answering “Why is my tax bill so high?”
* Bonus: survived at least one tax software migration without swearing off humanity.
**Skills**
* Ability to create order from chaos—systems, workflows, SOPs.
* Exceptional tax technical knowledge (table stakes).
* Clear communication skills—able to translate IRS into English.
* Strong leadership and talent\-development abilities.
* Comfort implementing and maximizing tax technology.
* Analytical abilities strong enough to impress Sherlock Holmes.
* Proactive, resourceful, and able to take (and give) a joke.
**Education**
* BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
* CPA or EA preferred (and if you have a Master’s, we won’t hold it against you).
**Working Conditions**
* Hybrid/remote flexibility.
* Occasional onsite client visits.
* Some evening/weekend work during busy season.
**Physical Requirements**
* Must be able to lift a printer… or at least a stack of tax returns.
* Ability to carry the weight of client expectations without breaking a sweat.
**Compensation**
We’re exploring multiple structures for the right leader:
* Employee role with competitive salary \+ incentive comp.
* Joint venture arrangement.
* Partnership/equity stake.
