Job Description

About Creative Advising Creative Advising is a fast\-growing, subscription\-based CPA firm headquartered in Post Falls, Idaho. We specialize in strategic tax planning, accounting services, and wealth strategies for real estate professionals—brokers, agents, investors, and property managers. With a 4\.7\-star Google rating and a client base of over 100 active clients on monthly retainers, we’ve built a reputation for delivering real tax savings and proactive financial guidance that goes far beyond compliance. Our tech\-forward firm runs on QuickBooks Online, Gusto, TaxDome, and Juno. We believe in building systems that scale, and we’re looking for a leader who shares that mindset. The Role As President of Creative Advising, you will be the operational leader of the firm. You’ll own the full tax practice—from return review and quality control to client strategy sessions and team management. This is a hands\-on leadership role where you’ll work directly with clients, mentor a growing team, and build the systems and processes that allow the firm to scale. You’ll report directly to the Owner and CEO and partner closely with the COO on operations and technology. This role is ideal for a seasoned CPA who wants to run a practice, not just work in one—someone who thinks like an owner and wants to build something meaningful. Key ResponsibilitiesTax Operations \& Quality Control * Review all individual (1040\) and business (1120S) tax returns prepared by staff, serving as the firm’s final quality control gate * Manage the full tax preparation lifecycle from document collection through filing, ensuring accuracy and compliance * Stay current on tax code changes, particularly those affecting real estate professionals, S\-Corps, and high\-net\-worth individuals * Handle IRS correspondence, notices, and resolution matters for clients Client Strategy \& Relationships * Lead quarterly strategy sessions with clients (3–5 calls per week, approximately one hour each), delivering proactive tax planning and financial guidance * Serve as the primary point of contact for client tax questions, estimated payment guidance, and strategic decision\-making * Build and maintain strong client relationships that drive retention and referrals * Manage client communication workflows in TaxDome, ensuring timely responses, document collection, and status updates Team Leadership \& Development * Directly manage and mentor the tax preparation staff, including assigning work, conducting reviews, and providing technical training * Build and refine workflows, checklists, and standard operating procedures to improve consistency and efficiency across the team * Hold regular team meetings and open office hours to maintain communication and accessibility * Partner with the COO to identify operational bottlenecks and implement scalable solutions Systems \& Process Building * Standardize the strategy call workflow: implement consistent pre\-call preparation, client\-facing deliverables, and post\-call follow\-up processes * Leverage TaxDome for task management, workflow automation, and client communication * Collaborate with leadership to develop and adopt tools that reduce manual effort in bookkeeping, client onboarding, and reporting * Maintain disciplined daily and weekly operational rhythms (task reviews, email blocks, pipeline management) Required Qualifications * Active CPA license in good standing * Minimum 7\+ years of public accounting experience with a focus on tax planning and preparation * Deep expertise in real estate taxation, including rental properties, short\-term rentals, 1031 exchanges, cost segregation, and S\-Corp structuring * Demonstrated experience managing and mentoring a tax team (3\+ direct reports) * Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online, tax preparation software, and practice management platforms * Excellent client\-facing communication skills with the ability to translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance Preferred Qualifications * MBA or Master’s in Taxation * Experience with TaxDome, Gusto, Quickbooks Online and Juno or similar CPA practice management platforms * Background in subscription\-based or advisory\-model accounting firms * Experience serving real estate professionals (brokers, agents, investors, property managers) * Familiarity with AI tools for productivity (e.g., Fireflies AI, automation platforms) * Track record of building or improving systems and processes in a growing firm Who You Are You’re not just a technically excellent CPA—you’re a leader who thinks like an owner. You care deeply about your clients’ outcomes and take pride in finding every legal dollar of tax savings. You’re energized by building systems that create consistency and scale, and you see process improvement as an opportunity, not a burden. You thrive in a fast\-paced environment where no two days look exactly the same, and you’re comfortable balancing deep technical work with strategic conversations and team mentorship. Above all, you bring a client\-first mentality, an entrepreneurial mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for helping real estate professionals build wealth through smart tax strategy. What We Offer Competitive compensation starting at $160,000\+, commensurate with experience. Fully remote work environment with a collaborative, tech\-forward team.
