This role involves evaluating project requirements, conducting material and labor cost assessments, and collaborating with stakeholders to develop comprehensive project bids. The Senior Estimator leverages their expertise in cost estimation to ensure projects are completed within budget and meet financial objectives. The Senior Estimator is a critical member of the Strategic Growth Team, responsible for driving accurate, competitive, and executable project estimates that support new business development and long\-term growth. This role evaluates project requirements, interprets drawings, and builds detailed quotes within AQ while assessing material, equipment, and labor costs. In close partnership with sales, category management, and operations, the Senior Estimator develops comprehensive, value\-driven proposals—leveraging alternates and value engineering to optimize cost, lead time, and overall solution. As a customer\-facing contributor, this role supports client discussions, ensuring clarity, confidence, and alignment throughout the bid process. By combining technical expertise with strong collaboration and communication, the Senior Estimator helps secure new opportunities, protect margins, and ensure projects are positioned for successful execution and financial performance. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS \& RESPONSIBILITIES:****Cost Estimation:** * Conduct detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead expenses. * Interpret drawings, specifications, and project requirements to identify key cost drivers, risks, and opportunities. * Build and maintain quotes within AQ, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project scope. **Bid Development:** * Prepare comprehensive project bids and proposals, including detailed breakdowns of costs, timelines, and deliverables. * Collaborate with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors to develop accurate and competitive bids. * Leverage category management to identify and present value\-engineered alternates that optimize cost, lead time, and performance. **Cost Analysis:** * Analyze and compare subcontractor and vendor bids to ensure competitiveness and cost\-effectiveness. * Evaluate alternative materials, methods, and approaches to optimize project costs without compromising quality or safety. **Risk Assessment:** * Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and timelines. * Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address identified risks and ensure project success. **Client Engagement:** * Participate in client meetings and presentations to discuss project requirements, cost estimates, and bid proposals. * Address client inquiries and concerns regarding project costs, scope, and timelines. * Assist in a seamless transition upon award, coordinating the handoff to the appropriate TriMark divisions (operations, project management, and service) to ensure alignment on scope, pricing, timelines, and execution expectations. **Documentation and Reporting:** * Prepare and maintain accurate records of cost estimates, bid proposals, and project documentation. * Generate reports and presentations to communicate project costs, profitability, and financial analysis to stakeholders. **Continuous Improvement:** * Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes affecting construction costs. * Identify opportunities for process improvement and optimization in cost estimation methodologies and tools. **COMPETENCIES:** * Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and methods. * Excellent analytical and mathematical skills. * Proficient in using Bluebeam, Foxit PDF Editor, or similar tools to perform accurate takeoffs and measurements from construction drawings. * Attention to detail and accuracy in cost calculations. * Effective communication and interpersonal skills. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. * Time management and organizational abilities to meet project deadlines. * Problem\-solving and decision\-making skills. * Adaptability and flexibility to navigate changing project requirements. **QUALIFICATIONS \& EXPERIENCE:** * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field or practical experience. * 4 – 6 years of experience in construction cost estimation, preferably in commercial or residential construction. * Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and specifications. * Certification in cost estimating (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) is a plus. * Proven track record of successfully bidding and winning construction projects. * Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously. * Ability to successfully pass a background check post offer acceptance. The range provided represents the national average pay range for this position and is considered to be a general guideline. Pay for this position will reflect the candidate’s unique qualifications and may be higher or lower than the range provided based on employee geographic location. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other local, state, and federal law. In addition to base salary, this role will be eligible for participation in TriMark’s’ benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, 401K (with employer match), etc. Leadership positions may also qualify for participation in bonus programs commensurate with role and scope of responsibility.
