**CHD Overview:**
Children’s Health Defense (CHD) is a litigation advocacy organization dedicated to protecting child health, ending the epidemic of children’s chronic health conditions by eliminating harmful environmental exposures, holding those responsible accountable, and establishing safeguards. Guided by science, we are tackling big pharma, holding big industry accountable at an unprecedented scale, and establishing safeguards to make a safer environment for children. We share our discoveries about harmful environmental exposures with the public and nurture a culture of leadership in communities. Our programs and resources cultivate science literacy and build a foundation of collaborative problem\-solving among our next generation of leaders, scientists, physicians, citizens, and stewards. Working both nationally and internationally, our collaborative approach engages local communities, governments, the private sector, and other partners.
**Department Overview:**
The Marketing Department is responsible for all aspects of the organization’s social media presence. It builds and protects the organization’s brand as a leading voice in children’s health. We craft compelling, research\-grounded content that inspires action and execute multi\-channel strategies to connect with donors, advocates, volunteers, policymakers, media, and affected families. Working collaboratively across media, litigation, science, education, EMR and advocacy teams, we amplify our impact through strategic communications, digital outreach, content creation, public relations, and campaign amplification, ultimately advancing our goals of increasing public awareness, growing supporter and donor participation, fueling litigation efforts, and driving systemic change to safeguard children's health.
**Position Overview:**
The Social Media Content Creator \& Video Editor is responsible for collaborating with the Social Media Manager to ensure all CHD video content adheres to CHD standards. This role will create content that drives greater visibility and engagement across social media platforms by producing high\-quality, short\-form video content utilizing SEO practices.
**Responsibilities:**
* Identify key moments from long\-form content (podcasts, interviews, etc) and transform them into high\-performing, story\-driven short\-form content, including rapid\-turn edits for breaking or timely content
* Optimize video content for different social platforms, including clipping, editing, and repurposing livestream and broadcast content (X, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, Rumble)
* Add captions and light graphics as needed, including branding, to ensure accessibility, engagement, and consistent visual quality
* Research and implement emerging social media trends, platform updates, and new content formats relevant to advocacy and news media
* Maintain consistency in voice, tone, brand identity, and visual presentation across all social platforms
* Write engaging, platform\-appropriate copy, headlines, and add captions to all video content.
* Develop audience engagement strategies by monitoring comments, replies, and messages; moderate as needed and flag notable feedback or issues to leadership while engaging consistently to support audience growth and interaction
* Attend meetings and events as required
* Respond to calls, emails and text communications in a timely manner
* All other duties as assigned
**Requirements:**
* 2\-5 years of experience in social media, digital content, or media production
* Advanced video editing skills, including a portfolio that includes social media content
* Proficiency with video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Davinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, or equivalent
* Familiarity with graphic design and captioning tools
* Strong writing skills and editorial judgement, including social media hooks, captions, and headlines
* Ability to identify and elevate key moments in long\-form video and audio content and tell the story through short\-form content.
* Experience working in a fast\-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
* Knowledge of best practices for social media platforms
* Solid knowledge of SEO and keyword search
* Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
* A strong understanding of CHD’s mission and audience
* Proficiency in content management and social media tools
DESIRED:
* Experience managing high\-volume posting or rapid\-response content
* Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
**Environmental and Physical Requirements:**
Essential physical and environmental requirements of this position include but are not limited to the ability to: speak, hear, see, type/write, use a computer, use a phone. If these abilities are not present, must be able to use assistive technology or other assistive measures to carry out these functions. Must be able to attend online meetings, sit for prolonged periods of time, work on a set schedule, maintain a safe home office. In addition, must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, under tight deadlines, and shifting priorities.
