**Responsibilities**
**Summary** : (Remote/Virtual Role) Under general supervision, plans for, prepares, analyzes, and corrects various income tax returns and reports as required by different state and federal regulatory authorities and prepares the quarterly and annual tax provision pursuant to ASC 740\. Ensures compliance with applicable tax laws through the preparation and review of various documents in accordance with established departmental guidelines and timeframes. Assists tax leadership with tax audits by federal and state authorities. Supports indirect tax processes such as, but not limited to, sales tax, unclaimed property, and property tax. This position is ideal for someone who wants to deepen their expertise in corporate income taxation while gaining exposure to sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect tax areas.
**Responsibilities:**
* Prepare federal and state income tax returns including supporting workpapers and calculations.
* Assist with quarterly estimated tax payments, extensions, and state notices.
* Maintain and document state apportionment data and state modifications.
* Assist with quarterly and annual accounting for income taxes under generally accepted accounting principles under ASC 740 by gathering data and preparing supporting calculations required for the ASC 740 calculation.
* Assist with SOX\-compliant control documentation.
* Review and analyse financial transactions in order to identify and prepare book/tax or federal/state adjustments.
* Conduct tax research and work on special projects as assigned.
* Prepare general ledger account reconciliations and income tax payment requests.
* Assist tax leadership in the handling of income tax audits and developing tax planning recommendations.
* Investigate income tax notices and prepare response letters for Manger or Director’s review.
* Assist with maintaining tax calendars, documentation repositories, and workflow tools.
* Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and automation of income tax policies and procedures.
* Assist with multi\-state sales tax compliance, data gathering, and reconciliations.
* Support indirect tax taxability research.
* Help maintain data quality for the company’s indirect tax engine (ie Vertex).
* May include other duties as applied
**Qualifications**
**Required Skills:**
* Working knowledge and experience of accounting principles including accounting for income taxes pursuant to ASC 740
* Working knowledge and experience in federal tax concepts applicable to corporations
* Working knowledge and experience in preparation of federal and state income tax returns for corporations
* General knowledge of tax compliance and provision software (ONESOURCE Tax suite of products preferred)
* General knowledge of indirect tax engines (Vertex preferred)
* Ability to analyze financial data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
* Ability to work effectively with colleagues as a team member
* Must be able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram or schedule form
* Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
* Strong project management, analytical, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
* Detail oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
* Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel spreadsheets and Word
* Results driven with ability to take initiative and meet deadlines
**Preferred Skills:**
* Working knowledge of JD Edwards
* Working knowledge of financial reporting tools (JEDOX preferred)
* Working knowledge of business intelligence tools and robotic automation processing tools to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and provide strategic insights beyond basic reporting
**Physical Role Requirements** : Be seated at a computer intermittently for up to eight hours a day. Move up to 10 pounds occasionally, by lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or otherwise repositioning objects. Sitting for long periods of time while using office equipment such as computers and phones. Repetitive motions using hands and digits; such as movement of wrists, hands and fingers while picking, pinching and typing during your normal working environment.
**Minimum Education, Licensure and Professional Certification requirements:** Bachelor’s degree required in Business Administration with an Accounting Major. Master’s degree in Taxation or CPA license preferred.
**Minimum Experience required** *(number of years necessary to perform role)* : 2\+ years of income tax experience required, preferably with a Big 4 Accounting Firm or Fortune 500 Company. Experience in income tax research, corporate and partnership taxation, forecasting, and accounting for income taxes preferred.
**Travel:** Position may be required to travel approximately 5% of the time
**Other/State Specific**
*This role pays between $59,700 \- $74,600/Yr, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, responsibilities, experience, and location.*
