**American Association of Post\-Acute Care Nursing (AAPACN)** TITLE: **Curriculum Development Specialist** DEPARTMENT: Education and Certification Strategy (ECS) REPORTS TO: Director of Education and Certification Strategy CLASSIFICATION: Fulltime, Exempt SUPERVISES: None The Curriculum Development Specialists of AAPACN are an integral part of how the Association maintains value and offers important member benefits. Through the curriculum, resources, and products they create and maintain, these individuals support the strategic direction of the Association to become a trusted resource of accurate, timely, and invaluable information about the current post\-acute care environment and profession. A Curriculum Development (CD) Specialist coordinates with the rest of the Education and Certification Strategy team and other departments of the Association to deliver the timely release of new products, updates of existing content, and appropriate responses to quality assurance needs. This position is primarily responsible for supporting the nursing home administrator, Director of Nursing Services (DNS) programs and similar skilled nursing facility manager roles. **GENERAL REQUIREMENTS** The ideal candidate is passionate about the post\-acute care profession and educating others in the field. This individual is a recognized subject matter expert in long\-term care in the following areas including survey/regulatory\-related requirements, Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI), clinical and budgetary operations, the resident assessment instrument (RAI), MDS processes, Medicare, quality measures, Five Star Quality Rating System, leadership development, building a positive and save organization culture, and other post\-acute subject matter that impacts the interdisciplinary team. They thrive on staying on top of industry changes and translating that into useful and highly valued member resources. A CD Specialist is creative and excited to present new ideas for member resources and products. They are comfortable with managing a large, ever\-changing task and priority list, dictated by the regulatory changes shared by CMS. **Decision\-making:** This individual is responsible for utilizing their subject matter expertise and analysis of trends in the field or evidence\-based research to identify member needs and business opportunities. This position works with the executive team to determine strategies for implementation and collaboratively make recommendations on the Association’s future course of action. All decisions made in this position are of a high level and impact the future success of the Association. **Complexity:** This position requires highly experienced analysis and judgment. Experienced judgment is needed in determining/predicting future trends and recommending changes to the Association’s content to incorporate this analysis. Problem\-solving includes recommending outcomes that affect policy, operations, staffing, expenses, and revenues. The individual must demonstrate humility and self\-awareness, including openness to feedback, willingness to learn from others, and the ability to recognize when additional expertise or perspective is needed. Strong emotional intelligence is essential to effectively collaborate with others, navigate differing perspectives, communicate constructively, and build trusted professional relationships. **Authority:** This position is that of an individual contributor. **SPECIFIC DUTIES** *Responsibilities include but are not limited to:* **Product and Curriculum Maintenance** * Reviews certification content for integrity and accuracy. * Reviews and maintains certification manuals, power points and exam questions as assigned. * Provides overall quality assurance of long\-term care related content by responding to learner, subject\-matter expert volunteer, and faculty quality concerns as needed. * Maintains ANCC and NAB certification information as related to subject matter. **New Product Development** * Serves as a subject matter expert and writer/reviewer for new product development related to nursing home administrators and associated topics. * Develops monthly tools to assist administrators with daily operations * Uses expertise to develop new products by building online curriculum, manuals, and power point from the beginning to launch of new products. * Peer review of new products developed by other CD Specialists as needed. * Recognizes needs and trends that emerge from experience with and/or data from panels, questions from presentations, or the member discussion communities. **Member Resources and Benefits** * Website: Provides content review, edits, monitoring and updates for the Association’s website on a continuous basis to assure the presence of the most accurate and up\-to\-date information on long\-term care leadership, survey regulation, policy, and other relevant topics. * AAPACN newsletters and other publications: Assists in the development of an annual editorial calendar for publications, including bi\-weekly newsletters, determining timely content/topics, authors, and deadlines. Writes monthly articles for the administrator newsletter. Writes articles for outside publications as assigned. * AAPACN member communities: Monitors AAPACN online community content. Serves as subject matter expert to answer member questions when possible. Answers member questions that fall into his/her areas of expertise but are not appropriate for members to post to the online community. **Panels, Public Speaking, and Presentations** * Conducts monthly AAPACN Webinars and Certification Workshops, as assigned. * Collaborates with the AAPACN volunteer task forces that review conference proposals for consideration for educational events and assists with final selection of content and speakers. * Serves as the staff liaison for the expert advisory panel (EAP), prepares the monthly agenda and collaborates with the EAP chair regarding topics. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. **Required Experience \& Skills** * Licensed nursing home administrator with eight (8\) or more years of combined experience in administration, nursing, long\-term care consulting, content and product development, management, training, teaching or equivalent. * Knowledge of the management and delivery of healthcare services in long\-term care and/or in healthcare regulatory and policy interpretation. * Experience in developing and editing content and products, especially for educational or training purposes. * Expert written and verbal communication skills. * Strong organizational and time management skills. * Strong attention to detail. * Strong computer skills, with significant experience with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel. **Preferred Experience \& Skills** * Relevant certifications. * Experience as a nursing home administrator, regional director of operations, or vice president of operations. * Experience with and/or knowledge of learning management software (LMS) and e\-learning design and software (Oasis, Storyline, Articulate 360\). WORKING CONDITIONS * Assigned days and times within a 40 hour Monday through Friday work week. * Occasional domestic travel required. * Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. * Position is fully remote.
