Junior Data Scientist - Generative AI and Japanese Language

**JOB DESCRIPTION** **Resource Role** **Junior Data Scientist \- Generative AI and Japanese Language** This position is responsible for developing, testing, and evaluating Generative AI and Large Language Model applications that generate accurate, natural, and culturally appropriate Japanese\-language outputs. The role will collaborate with an English\-speaking technical team. **Education** * Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, or a relevant field. * College\-level coursework in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Statistics, or related subjects is required. **Experience** * 0\-2 years; recent graduates with relevant coursework, academic projects, or internships are encouraged to apply. **Mandatory skills** * Native Japanese speaker, or equivalent native\-level proficiency, with excellent speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills. * Fluent professional English, with strong speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension skills. * Ability to assess Japanese AI\-generated content for linguistic accuracy, naturalness, tone, context, and cultural appropriateness. * Foundational knowledge of Data Science, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and Large Language Models. * Programming experience in Python and familiarity with common data analysis libraries. * Understanding of prompt design, structured testing, and qualitative and quantitative evaluation of LLM outputs. * Strong analytical, problem\-solving, and attention\-to\-detail skills. * Ability to document experiments and communicate technical findings clearly in English. * Willingness to learn and contribute to cutting\-edge Generative AI technologies. **Nice to have skills** * Hands\-on experience with Generative AI platforms or models such as OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, or open\-source LLMs. * Exposure to Japanese NLP, localization, translation quality evaluation, data annotation, or linguistic quality assurance. * Familiarity with retrieval\-augmented generation, embeddings, vector databases, or agentic AI frameworks. * Knowledge of PyTorch or TensorFlow, REST APIs, Git, and basic software development practices. * Experience creating or evaluating Japanese\-language datasets, prompts, benchmarks, or automated test cases.
