Mainframe Systems Programmer

**Job Summary** We are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Mainframe Systems Programmer to join our clients IT team. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust mainframe operating systems that support our enterprise operations. Your expertise will ensure the stability, security, and performance of our mainframe environment, enabling seamless business processes across multiple platforms. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with cutting\-edge technologies and contribute to the architecture of large\-scale, mission\-critical systems. **Duties** * Develop, configure, and optimize mainframe operating systems such as z/OS to ensure high availability and performance. * Expert\-level knowledge of IBM z/OS operating system administration, performance tuning, installation, upgrade and patching. * Manage system resources including storage management, RAID controllers, and system tuning to maximize efficiency. * Implement and support system backup and recovery procedures to safeguard critical data. * Strong knowledge and technical skills in IBM mainframe hardware including hardware installs and upgrades, firmware and module patching and lifecycle planning. * Strong knowledge and understanding of IBM mainframe storage and tape management systems including storage replication technology. * Deep knowledge in CICS administration. * Troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues related to mainframe environments, including system crashes and performance bottlenecks. * Collaborate with cross\-functional teams on solution architecture, system design, and integration of new applications utilizing RESTful APIs and microservices. * **Qualifications** * **Proven experience in mainframe systems programming with a strong understanding of z/OS or similar environments.** * Extensive knowledge of system administration including storage management, server backup/recovery, and performance tuning. * Strong knowledge and understanding of mainframe security, CICS and workload management tools and methodologies. * Strong knowledge of JobTrac administration. * Knowledge of database concepts in Mainframe, particularly in IDMS database administration.
