**Project Specialist, Volunteer** **About the Pet Cancer Foundation** The Pet Cancer Foundation’s vision is to increase the life expectancy and improve the quality of life of pets diagnosed with cancer. Each year, an estimated 12 million dogs and cats are diagnosed with cancer, six times the number of humans affected annually in North America. As our content teams grow, we need organized, reliable project professionals to keep assignments moving, hold volunteers accountable to timelines, and help our Website Editorial work stay on schedule. That’s where and how you can help us. **About the position** The volunteer Project Specialist supports PCF’s content development teams by keeping work organized, visible, and on time. You track assignments through the content cycle, check in with contributors, give timely reminders, and escalate risks before deadlines slip. Successful applicants will be matched to the opportunity that best aligns with their experience and interests within our project team. This role requires consistent weekday availability, strong communication, and the ability to keep a distributed volunteer team moving without being abrasive. ***\*Please leave a note with your application acknowledging your awareness of the volunteer nature of this position. Applications from outside Canada or the United States, or applications using false locations, VOIP\-only contact details, or other misleading information, will not be considered. **Duties and Responsibilities** * Coordinate assigned content work by tracking tasks, owners, and deadlines through the development cycle. * Check in with team members regularly to confirm progress, prevent stalled work, and keep communication active. * Provide clear, professional reminders when assignments are at risk and escalate delays to the appropriate leader. * Maintain accurate tracking tools, status notes, and team documentation related to process, standards, and timelines. * Share concise updates on progress, bottlenecks, and follow\-up needed. * Liaise with content leaders and other project team members to keep processes and reporting consistent. * Support related coordination or project\-support tasks as assigned. **About You** You’re organized, persistent, and calm under deadline pressure. You know how to keep people moving without creating friction, and you notice slips early. You bring: * 3\+ years of experience in project coordination, project management, or portfolio/program support. * Strong tracking and follow\-through skills; you keep work visible and moving. * A professional, pleasantly persistent communication style that holds people accountable. * Experience working with remote or distributed teams. * Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive) and comfort maintaining simple trackers. * Ability to check in during the week; this is not a weekends\-only role. * Genuine interest in PCF’s mission and in helping content teams deliver reliable work for pet families. **Why volunteer** Volunteering as a Project Specialist gives you the opportunity to keep meaningful content work on track in a growing nonprofit.
