Gujarati Interpreter

Lexikeet seeks a part-time Gujarati interpreter. The Gujarati - English Interpreter is an independent contractor, work-from-home position. The Remote Interpreter would be responsible for servicing video interpretation and phone interpretation appointments on an as-needed basis. The contractor may be asked to do language assessments of other Gujarati speakers as well.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Video Interpretation: interpreting Gujarati \<-\> English via our online video interpretation system (previous interpretation experience preferred, however we will provide on-the-job training)
• Phone Interpretation: interpreting Gujarati \<-\> English via contractor's personal phone (previous interpretation experience preferred, however we will provide on-the-job training)

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Gujarati fluency.
• High spoken English.
• Previous experience interpreting.
• Comfortable with sight translation.
• Simultaneous experience a plus, not required.
• Medium to high computer ability.
• Committed to being on-time for all assignments.
• Self-motivated \& self-organized.
• Quiet home environment (this is a work-from-home position).
• (for phone interpretation) Home access to a phone.
• (for video interpretation) Home access to a smart phone, Chromebook, laptop or desktop (must have webcam, mic, and speaker).
• Minimum home internet speed of 2 Mbps Upload and 20 Mbps Download (test your speed at https://speedof.me).

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay:

• Scheduled OPI/VRI: $0.45/min (30 min minimum + 15 min increments thereafter).
• On-Demand OPI/VRI: $0.55/min (15 min minimum).
• Simultaneous Live Streaming Interpretation (RSI): $0.84/min (60 min minimum + 15 minute increments thereafter).

Job Types: Part-time, Contract

Pay: $27.00 - $50.40 per hour
