Job Description

Medical Community Engagement Manager

Association of Migraine Disorders (AMD)

Position Type: Part-Time, Contract, 12–15 hours per week, 6 months with potential to extend

Location: Remote

Reports To: Executive Director of Operations

About the Association of Migraine Disorders

The Association of Migraine Disorders (AMD) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding the understanding of migraine through education, research, and awareness. We work to bridge knowledge gaps, foster collaboration across medical specialties, and improve outcomes for people living with migraine.

Position Overview

The Association of Migraine Disorders is seeking a strategic, relationship-driven Medical Community Engagement Manager to lead the growth and engagement of Migraine in Other Specialties (MiOS), an initiative designed to expand migraine education and collaboration across diverse healthcare specialties. Currently known as Migraine in Otolaryngology Society, MiOS is evolving to engage clinicians across a broader range of medical specialties who are interested in improving migraine diagnosis, treatment, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

This individual will serve as the primary community manager, building and maintaining relationships with healthcare professionals, facilitating meaningful scientific and clinical exchange, and creating opportunities for interdisciplinary learning.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the healthcare landscape, the ability to engage credibly with medical professionals, and the curiosity to learn quickly and navigate diverse medical specialties. They will identify educational gaps, cultivate relationships with clinical experts and thought leaders, and translate insights from the medical community into valuable educational programming.

This role requires someone who can understand and champion AMD leadership's long-term vision, think creatively about how to bring that vision to life, and independently turn ideas into actionable initiatives. The successful candidate will balance big-picture thinking with hands-on community management and program execution.

Key Responsibilities

Community Development and Engagement

  • Lead the growth and ongoing management of the MiOS professional community, creating an engaging environment for healthcare professionals to connect, learn, and collaborate through online discussion forums, clinical case studies, expert conversations, and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.
  • Develop and implement strategies to expand MiOS into additional medical specialties (including but not limited to OBGYN, primary care, ENT), identifying opportunities where greater migraine awareness and education are needed.
  • Recruit healthcare professionals, thought leaders, and subject matter experts (including physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants) to participate in the community.

Physician and Board Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with healthcare professionals across a broad range of specialties.
  • Identify opportunities for board members and medical advisors to contribute their expertise through case discussions, educational events, and professional outreach.
  • Develop approaches to recognize and retain highly engaged community members.

Educational Programming and Events

  • Plan and coordinate quarterly educational webinars, expert discussions, or networking events designed to recruit and engage healthcare professionals.
  • Identify opportunities to host events in conjunction with existing medical conferences and professional meetings to maximize reach and participation.
  • Coordinate speakers, discussion topics, event promotion, and follow-up engagement.
  • Engage committee members in identifying educational priorities, emerging topics, and opportunities for collaboration.

Strategic Growth and Program Integration

  • Work closely with AMD leadership to understand, support, and execute the long-term vision for MiOS.
  • Identify opportunities to integrate MiOS into AMD's existing initiatives, including the Migraine Apprenticeship, HEADS Registry, continuing medical education, and other educational and research programs.
  • Develop creative strategies to expand the community's reach, strengthen its value proposition, and increase participation across specialties.
  • Identify potential partnerships with professional medical societies, healthcare organizations, academic institutions, and industry stakeholders.
  • Monitor participation, engagement, and program outcomes, providing regular updates and recommendations to leadership.

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field, life sciences, public health, or a related discipline required. Advanced degree or clinical credentials (e.g., RN, NP, PA, PharmD, MPH, or MD/DO) are a plus.
  • Background in medicine, healthcare, life sciences, medical affairs, clinical education, or a related field. Familiarity with migraine, neurology, otolaryngology, vestibular disorders, or related medical disciplines is required.
  • Experience as a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), medical educator, clinical liaison, healthcare professional, or in a comparable role.
  • Experience building professional relationships, facilitating medical discussions, or developing educational programs.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and written communication skills.
  • Comfort working with online discussion platforms, virtual events, and digital collaboration tools.

Success in This Role

Success will be measured by the ability to build an engaged, growing, multidisciplinary professional community that advances AMD's mission.

Key indicators include:

  • Expansion of MiOS into additional medical specialties.
  • Growth in healthcare professional membership and active participation.
  • Consistent engagement in discussion forums and clinical case studies.
  • Increased participation from board members and the education committee.
  • Successful execution of quarterly educational events.
