Job Description

Overview
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Children's Product Quality \& Safety Compliance Specialist to support quality control, product safety compliance, and regulatory documentation for children's toys and related products.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of children's product safety regulations, toy testing requirements, packaging and labeling standards, technical documentation, and Amazon's product safety and compliance requirements for toys.

This is a remote, part-time position requiring approximately 15 hours per week. The candidate will help ensure that our products, packaging, labels, and compliance documents meet applicable regulatory requirements and marketplace standards before products are launched or listed for sale.

1. Children's Product Safety \& Regulatory Compliance

  • Review applicable safety regulations and standards for children's toys and related products.
  • Maintain working knowledge of relevant U.S. and international requirements, as applicable, including ASTM F963, CPSIA, CPSC requirements, and applicable chemical, mechanical, and physical safety standards.
  • Identify age-grading, choking hazard, small-parts, warning-label, and other applicable product safety requirements.
  • Review product specifications and identify potential safety or compliance issues.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers, testing laboratories, and suppliers to obtain required testing and certification documents.

2. Product Testing \& Technical Documentation

  • Review and organize third-party laboratory test reports, including reports from recognized testing laboratories where applicable.
  • Verify that test reports correspond to the correct product, model, materials, and applicable requirements.
  • Maintain product compliance files, including applicable Children's Product Certificates (CPCs), General Certificates of Conformity (GCCs), test reports, declarations, technical data sheets, and supporting documentation.
  • Review bills of materials, material specifications, and other product data sheets as needed.
  • Track document expiration dates, revisions, missing records, and outstanding compliance actions.

3. Product Labeling, Packaging \& Artwork Review

  • Review product labels, packaging artwork, instruction manuals, and warning statements for compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Check age grading, manufacturer or importer identification, tracking labels, required warnings, and other relevant labeling elements.
  • Verify that packaging claims and product descriptions are consistent with the available product specifications and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate required corrections to suppliers, designers, and internal team members before production or listing.

4. Amazon Product Safety \& Listing Compliance

  • Understand Amazon's applicable toy safety and product compliance policies and documentation requirements.
  • Prepare, organize, and submit relevant product safety documents through Amazon Seller Central when requested.
  • Review product listings for consistency with approved product specifications, age grading, warnings, and compliance documentation.
  • Respond to product compliance requests and help resolve documentation-related listing restrictions or compliance alerts.
  • Maintain an organized record of documents submitted to Amazon and follow up on outstanding requests.

5. Quality Control \& Supplier Coordination

  • Develop and maintain product-specific quality and compliance checklists.
  • Review supplier documentation and identify missing, inconsistent, or incomplete information.
  • Coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers to obtain corrected documents, updated test reports, and revised labels.
  • Maintain a product compliance tracker and provide regular updates on product readiness, outstanding issues, and required corrective actions.

Qualifications \& Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in children's toy safety, product quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or product compliance documentation.
  • Working knowledge of ASTM F963, CPSIA, CPSC requirements, and applicable children's product certification and testing requirements.
  • Experience reviewing laboratory test reports, product data sheets, certificates, packaging labels, and technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with Amazon Seller Central and its product safety and compliance documentation processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies in technical and regulatory documents.
  • Excellent organizational, written communication, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and manage priorities with limited supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with third-party testing laboratories such as SGS, Intertek, Bureau Veritas, or similar organizations.
  • Experience with children's products manufactured overseas and imported into the U.S.
  • Familiarity with U.S. requirements and relevant international standards, including applicable EN 71 and CE/European Union requirements, where relevant.
  • Experience supporting Amazon product launches, compliance reviews, and documentation requests.

Work Schedule

  • Approximately 15 hours per week.
  • Fully remote position.
  • Flexible scheduling, with agreed-upon availability for meetings and follow-ups.
  • Weekly progress updates and timely communication are expected.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a reliable specialist who understands that children's product safety is a critical responsibility. The successful candidate will be able to review documentation carefully, identify compliance gaps, coordinate corrective actions, and help ensure that each product has the appropriate supporting documentation before it is marketed or sold.

How to Apply

Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of your experience in children's product safety and regulatory compliance. Applicants should highlight their familiarity with toy testing standards, product labeling, compliance certificates, and Amazon Seller Central product safety requirements.

Please also describe your experience reviewing toy safety test reports and preparing documentation for product launches or marketplace compliance reviews.

My recommendation

For this role, I would use the job title Part-Time Children's Product Safety \& Compliance Specialist. It is more targeted than a general quality control title and is likely to attract candidates with relevant regulatory and documentation experience.

When screening candidates, prioritize these three areas:

  • Hands-on toy compliance experience: They should understand how to review test reports, CPCs, applicable ASTM F963/CPSIA requirements, and warning labels—not simply know the terminology.
  • Amazon compliance experience: They should have practical experience responding to Seller Central product compliance requests and organizing the supporting documents.
  • Independent document review: They should be able to spot mismatched model numbers, incomplete reports, missing test coverage, and labeling issues.

One important distinction: Amazon's documentation requirements and applicable legal requirements can vary by product, age group, and market. The person should verify the requirements for each product rather than assume that one certificate or test report covers everything.

Pay: $12,000.00 - $15,000.00 per year
