Senior Accountant / Assistant Controller (Part-Time, Remote)

Skyline World is an outsourced bookkeeping and accounting firm serving construction, industrial, and trades-based businesses. We’re seeking an experienced senior accountant/assistant controller to own month-end close, financial reporting, and controller-level review for a portfolio of client accounts, including multi-entity client groups. This is a remote, part-time role (up to 20 hours/week) with potential to grow to full-time when client hours regularly exceed 30/week.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close for assigned client accounts, including multi-entity groups, against a defined close calendar
• Review and approve bank, credit card, loan, intercompany, and balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the accounting team
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reporting for client owners
• Record and review accruals, adjusting entries, intercompany activity, and fixed asset/depreciation entriesIdentify and resolve unsupported or unreconciled balance sheet items, with documented support for every balance
• Serve as the financial point of contact for client owners and explain results in plain language
• Review payroll, sales tax, and AP/AR activity for accuracy and proper accounting treatment
• Lead or oversee cleanup engagements to bring client books to a clean, review-ready standard
• Coordinate with outside CPAs on year-end, tax preparation, and review requests
• Review the work of bookkeepers and staff accountants and provide clear feedback
• Required Qualifications5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years owning month-end close as a Senior Accountant, Assistant Controller, or Controller
• Advanced proficiency with QuickBooks Online
• Multi-entity accounting experience, including intercompany transactions
• Strong command of GAAP, accrual accounting, and balance sheet reconciliation
• Fluent written and spoken English, with the ability to clearly explain financial results to U.S. business owners
• Ability to manage multiple client deadlines independently in a remote environment
• Availability during U.S. Central Time business hours

Preferred Qualifications

• CPA license
• Experience in an outsourced accounting, CAS, or fractional controller setting
• Construction accounting: job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion
• QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification
• Experience with Spruce, NetSuite, and other common systems a plus

Compensation \& Schedule

$20.00 - 30.00/hour | Part-time, up to 20 hours/week | Remote | Potential to transition to full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week
