Job Description

We are seeking fluent Spanish-English interpreters to provide remote consecutive medical interpretation services. The ideal candidate will facilitate clear, accurate, and culturally appropriate communication between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare professionals, ensuring effective communication throughout medical consultations and related healthcare interactions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Medical Interpretation

• Provide accurate, impartial, and consecutive interpretation between Spanish-speaking patients and English-speaking healthcare providers, including physicians, nurses, and other medical professionals.
• Interpret medical terminology, symptoms, diagnoses, treatment plans, medication instructions, and other healthcare-related information.
• Preserve the original speaker’s meaning, tone, and intent without omitting or adding information.

2. Cultural Mediation

• Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity when facilitating communication between patients and healthcare professionals.
• Help bridge cultural and linguistic differences that may affect patient understanding and communication.
• Support patients in understanding healthcare-related processes while maintaining the interpreter’s professional boundaries.

3. Confidentiality and Professional Ethics

• Maintain strict patient confidentiality and protect sensitive medical information.
• Follow applicable privacy requirements, professional interpreting standards, and client policies.
• Remain impartial, professional, and respectful throughout every interaction.

4. Documentation and Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of interpretation sessions, including date, time, duration, and service type, as required.
• Follow client procedures for session documentation, reporting, and quality assurance.

5. Continuous Professional Development

• Stay current with medical terminology, healthcare practices, and interpretation standards.
• Maintain interpretation quality, accuracy, and professionalism in a remote working environment.

Required Qualifications

• Fluency in both Spanish and English, with strong verbal communication skills in both languages.
• Previous experience in medical interpretation or healthcare-related translation.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with healthcare settings and processes.
• Excellent listening, comprehension, and communication skills.
• Strong cultural awareness, attention to detail, and the ability to remain composed under pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, impartiality, and professional ethics.

Technical Requirements

Candidates must have the following equipment and connectivity to work remotely:

• Internet: Minimum 15 Mbps download and upload speed.
• Headset: USB headset is mandatory.
• Computer: PC with an Intel 5th-generation processor or higher and at least 8 GB RAM.
• Internet Connection: Wired LAN/Ethernet connection is required.
• Webcam: HD webcam.
• Work Environment: A quiet, private workspace suitable for confidential medical interpretation sessions.

Work Schedule and Compensation

• Work Mode: Fully Remote

• Pay Rate: $5 USD per hour
