Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist

**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly motivated and independent Medical Billing \& AR Specialist to join our behavioral health and substance abuse treatment facility. In this fully remote role you will be responsible for ensuring accurate billing for mental health and substance use disorder services, tracking outstanding insurance claims, appealing denials, and maximizing facility reimbursement. **Key Responsibilities:** * **Claim Submission \& Management:** Prepare, review, and electronically submit clean institutional (UB\-04\) and professional (CMS\-1500\) claims using industry\-specific coding guidelines and specialized behavioral health CPT/HCPCS modifiers. * **Accounts Receivable \& Collections:** Monitor AR aging reports consistently. Actively follow up on unpaid, underpaid, or aged insurance claims (30, 60, 90\+ days) via payer portals and phone calls to maximize reimbursement. * **Denial \& Appeal Management:** Research, rectify, and resubmit rejected or denied claims. Draft comprehensive appeal letters regarding medical necessity, authorization discrepancies, or timely filing limits. * **Payment Posting:** Assist with accurately posting insurance Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs), and gather EOBs from portal / scans from facilities.
