Job Description
NAMI Central Virginia is seeking a dependable and organized Program Coordinator to support our volunteer programs and community outreach efforts. This is a remote position requiring approximately 10 hours per week. The successful candidate must have access to a computer and reliable internet service to manage email communications and online administrative tasks.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to emails in both organizational and direct inboxes.
- Provide referrals to local mental health and community service providers when requested services are not offered by NAMI Central Virginia.
- Communicate with volunteers regarding phone calls, inquiries, and program updates.
- Coordinate volunteer onboarding, including follow-up with prospective volunteers, application processing, communication with the Virginia state office, and scheduling training opportunities.
- Maintain and update volunteer records and data forms.
- Support volunteers and assist with concerns related to the groups they facilitate.
- Compile and submit quarterly program and volunteer data to the state office.
- Assist with the development and distribution of the quarterly newsletter.
Qualifications
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including Microsoft Office or Google Office tools.
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and basic computer applications.
- Experience working with volunteers, community organizations, or nonprofits is preferred.

- Reports To: Executive Director or designated Board Representative
